Controversy Erupts As Karnataka Government Rebukes Lecturer-Activist For Predicting Failure Of ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 Mission

The Karnataka Department of Pre-University Education has reached out to a Kannada lecturer and Dalit activist at a pre-university college in Malleswaram for clarification on a social media post that allegedly mocks the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
According to a report from Indian Express, Hulikunte Murthy, a Dalit activist and lecturer, recently tweeted in Kannada expressing doubt about the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
He used the phrase "Tirupati nama" to imply that the moon mission would fail once again.
The deputy director of PU (Bengaluru North) informed IE that they have taken notice of Murthy's social media post on Chandrayaan-3.
An explanation has been requested from the lecturer, and he is expected to submit his reply by Wednesday (19 July). Appropriate action will be taken based on his response.
Before the launch of Chandrayaan-3, a team of ISRO scientists visited the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh to offer prayers.
S Suresh Kumar, former education minister and BJP leader, has written a letter to Madhu Bangarappa, the newly appointed School Education Minister.
In the letter, Kumar seeks clarification regarding the conduct of the lecturer.
Kumar expressed concern over the lecturer's social media post on the day of the successful Chandrayaan-3 launch. He questions how such a person can motivate students and urges Hulikunte Murthy to provide clarification. Kumar also warns the lecturer to be more cautious and avoid repeating such irresponsible behavior in the future.
Following the successful Chandrayaan-2 mission, which aimed to achieve a soft landing on the moon's surface, India has launched the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
If this mission is successful, India will become the fourth country to accomplish a soft landing on the lunar surface, joining the ranks of the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union.
