Coronavirus Update: 14 Italian Tourists, 1 Indian Driver Test Positive In India; All Quarantined, Confirms AIIMS

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi on Wednesday (4 March) confirmed 15 Italian tourists had tested positive for the CoVid-19 in India. All of them have been currently quarantined at an ITBP facility in the capital, India Today reported.

All 15 patients were taken for preventive-isolation after showing sign in screening during their arrival, AIIMS said.

This big development come a day after an Italy man was found positive with the virus in Jaipur. The man was part of a tourist group visiting Rajasthan, and his wife had also symptoms for the disease.

All the infected people as well as other suspected tourists who showed initial symptoms will undergo further medical examination and treatment.

Earlier on Monday, one man from Delhi and another from Hyderabad had tested positive for the virus. Both have been quarantined and are receiving required treatment.

Big fear had emerged after the Delhi patient had met several people, including attending a birthday party at a Noida school where his children studied, before being tested positive. This resulted in temporarily shutting the school and putting about 40 people including kids in isolation.

As of now, about 438 people across the country have bee suspected to have come contact with some infected person. 225 of them have finished their 280day isolation, while 189 are still under observation.

With the threat of COVID-19 looming large, the government has tightened the entry conditions for the nationals of Italy, Iran, South Korea, and Japan with immediate effect. As per the revised travel advisory issued on Tuesday by the Union Health Ministry, new travellers from these countries will have to apply for new visas.

The passengers of all the international flights entering into India from any port are required to furnish duly filled self declaration form (including personal particulars like phone numbers and address in India) and travel history, to Health Officials and Immigration officials at all ports.

Passengers (foreign and Indian) other than those restricted, arriving directly or indirectly from China, South Korea, Japan, Iran, Italy, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore and Taiwan must undergo medical screening at port of entry.

Indian citizens are advised to refrain from travelling to China, Iran, Republic of Korea, Italy and advised to avoid non-essential travel to other COVID-19 affected countries.
