Crowding At Hill Stations Without Masks, COVID Protocols A Matter Of Concern: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (13 July) strongly cautioned against crowding at hill stations and market places without adherence to the COVID appropriate behaviour.
Addressing a meeting of the Chief Ministers of the Northeast Indian states on COVID-19 situation, PM Modi also rejected the argument made by some people that they people want to enjoy before the arrival of the third wave and added that it should be understood that the third wave will not come on its own.
PM Modi acknowledged the negative impact of COVID on tourism and business but cautioned against crowding at hill stations without proper precautions.
The development comes as PM Modi interacted with the Chief Ministers of Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Assam, according to a PMO statement.
PM Modi expressed his worry over the growing number of cases in some districts of the Northeastern states and stressed the need to catch these signals and take strict actions at the micro level.
He reemphasised the use of micro containment protocol in dealing with the situation. He asked to make full use of the experience and best practices gathered over the last one and half years in this regard.
Noting the fast mutating nature of the virus, PM Moid advised strict monitoring of the mutation and keep track of all variants. He informed that experts are studying the mutations and their impact.
In such scenario, prevention and treatment are critical, he said, emphasising on Covid appropriate behaviour.
