Days After Nepal Earthquake Claims Over 150 Lives, Another 5.6 Magnitude Tremor Rocks Delhi-NCR
According to National Centre for Seismology, magnitude of earthquake was 5.6 on Richter scale.
Tremors shook Delhi-National Capital Region and neighbouring areas on Monday (6 November), with the National Centre for Seismology reporting an earthquake of magnitude 5.6.
The quake occurred at 16:16:40 IST, with its epicenter in Nepal, 233 kilometres north of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, as reported by Hindustan Times.
The earthquake induced panic among residents, particularly in Delhi and the National Capital Region, where people reported significant shaking of furniture.
These tremors occurred just days after a powerful 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, resulting in over 150 casualties and 160 injuries.
This recent earthquake marked the most severe seismic event in Nepal since 2015.
Nepal is situated in one of the world's most active tectonic zones (seismic zones IV and V), making the country highly susceptible to earthquakes and associated tremors.
The frequent seismic activity in the region underscores the need for disaster preparedness and resilience measures.
