News Brief
Arvind Kejriwal with Water Minister Atishi
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in another case related to alleged irregularities in Jal Board and asked to appear on Monday (18 March).
The summons was issued on the same day when the ED issued the ninth summons to Kejriwal in the liquor policy case. This comes a day after Kejriwal got bail from the additional chief metropolitan magistrate of Rouse Avenue Court.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener has been summoned under section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). ED is probing illegal tendering in Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and laundering of alleged proceeds of crime.
Delhi Water Minister Atishi expressed her unawareness about the case and called it "fake". She also called it a backup plan to arrest Arvind Kejriwal as he could not be arrested in the liquor policy case.
However, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva alleged that Delhi Jal Board has massive corruption and this issue is bigger than even the "Liquor Scam". "Arvind Kejriwal will have to answer," he added.
