"Descendants Of Godse": Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah On Those Protesting Against Removal Of Hanuman Flag In Mandya

Day after BJP's Karnataka unit, along with its new ally Janata Dal (Secular) [JD(S)] started protests against the removal of the Hanuman flag in Keragodu village of Mandya district, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called them "descendants of Godse."
After paying homage to MK Gandhi on his death anniversary on Tuesday (30 January), Siddaramaiah, indirectly attacking BJP, said, "There are people amongst us who worship Godse though they speak about Mahatma Gandhi as well."
When asked about Mandya protests, he said as per PTI, "Those disturbing peace are the descendants of Godse. People should live with love and trust for peace in the society. No one should try to inflame communal passions."
Nathuram Godse killed MK Gandhi on 30 January 1948. He was a member of the Hindu Mahasabha and had links with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Congress often alleges BJP of following Godse.
The CM reiterated that the permission granted by the village panchayat was for the national flag and not the saffron flag. He alleged that going against this permission was to gain political mileage and create unrest in society.
Section 144 was imposed in the village yesterday after the police force brought down the Hanuman flag hoisted by the Gram Panchayat Board on a 108-foot flagpole on Sunday (28 January).
