News Brief
Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi.
Despite a show-cause notice from the Election Commission for Rahul Gandhi's derogatory remarks, the Indian National Congress has intensified its offensive.
The party recently unveiled posters depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi as 'Panauti-e-Azam,' a term suggesting bad luck.
The poster, a parody of the film Mughal-E-Azam, portrays Prime Minister Modi sneaking behind curtains.
This follows Gandhi's earlier comment associating the Prime Minister with bad luck after India's loss in the ICC Men's World Cup Final.
As reported by News18, the Punjab Congress unit shared a similar poster, featuring a caricature of Prime Minister Modi dancing amidst depictions of various national tragedies.
Such tactics are not new for Congress, as it has previously used derogatory remarks like 'Maut ka saudagar' and 'neech aadmi' against the Prime Minister.
However, historical instances show that such name-calling has often backfired electorally for the party.
In 2019, Rahul Gandhi had to apologise for his 'chowkidar chor hai' remark after the Supreme Court issued a notice.
Despite the Election Commission's admonition, Congress seems undeterred in its use of offensive language in political discourse.
