Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses a gathering during the Dussehra celebrations in Delhi

On Tuesday (24 October), Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the Dussehra celebrations in the nation's capital, urging all Indians to make ten key commitments aimed at propelling India towards greater heights.

Speaking at the Ramlila Maidan in Dwarka, Prime Minister Modi introduced a comprehensive plan highlighting social and economic progress, as well as priorities in fitness, health, and sustainability, as per reports by Hindustan Times.

The ten resolutions for a "developed, self-reliant India" include: water conservation, digital transactions promotion, urban cleanliness, support for local products, a focus on quality work, exploring domestic travel before international, promoting natural farming, incorporating millets into diets, prioritising fitness, and uplifting at least one impoverished family.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi underscored the significance of Vijayadashami, a celebration symbolising the triumph of justice over injustice, humility over arrogance, and patience over anger.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister declared that until every underprivileged individual in the nation has access to essential amenities like housing, electricity, gas, water, and healthcare, genuine peace remains elusive.

The Prime Minister cautioned that despite India's growing prosperity over 75 years of Independence, the country must remain vigilant.

He called for the burning of Ravana effigies to represent the eradication of all forms of societal disharmony, sending a strong message against divisive forces that exploit casteism and regionalism.

During a 20-minute speech to a large and enthusiastic crowd, the Prime Minister celebrated India's recent accomplishments, including successful moon landings, the development of INS Vikrant, the nation's first indigenous aircraft carrier, and the Tejas aircraft, relating them to the essence of India.
