'Gita Press Is Not Just A Printing Press, It's A Temple To Crores Of People': PM Modi In Gorakhpur

Equating the Gita Press, which has been in existence for a century, to a revered temple for millions of people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his admiration for the institution during an event in Gorakhpur.
He highlighted that the Gita Press is not just an organisation, but a living faith that holds immense significance. Even Mahatma Gandhi himself had a deep emotional connection to this institution.
“Gita Press is the only printing press in the world, which is not just an organisation but a living faith. Gita Press is not just a printing press but a temple to crores of people,” PM Modi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
This highlights the profound impact and reverence that people have for the Gita Press, which is known as one of the largest publishers of Hindu religious books globally.
"Gandhiji was emotionally attached to the Gita Press. He once used to write for it through Kalyan Patrika,” the Prime Minister added.
This recognition further exemplifies the significance and influence of Gita Press, as it receives an accolade associated with the ideals championed by the Father of the Nation.
In its centenary year, Gita Press, a renowned publishing house established in Gorakhpur in 1923, was unanimously chosen as the recipient of the 2021 Gandhi Peace Prize.
The jury, led by PM Modi, made this decision to honour the institution's remarkable contributions.
The Gandhi Peace Prize, established by the government in 1995 on the occasion of Gandhi's 125th birth anniversary, serves as a tribute to the principles and values advocated by the great Mahatma.
Modi arrived in Gorakhpur today to participate in the closing ceremony of the centenary celebrations of the publishing house, as well as to inaugurate the Vande Bharat trains.
Upon his arrival, he received a warm welcome from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel.
During his visit, PM Modi will also unveil a special edition of the Shiv Puran, which is one of the 18 major Puranas.
