Gujarat's Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested four Bangladeshi citizens in the state capital Ahmedabad for illegally entering and attempting to radicalize local youths, and collecting money for terror activities.
The four persons: Mohammad Sojib, Muna Khalid Ansari, Azharul Islam Ansari, and Mominul Ansari were were trained by handlers in Bangladesh as part of a local al-Qaeda module, as per a statement by DIG Gujarat ATS, Deepan Bhadran.
Reportedly, the suspects were radicalising people in Gujarat and transferring funds to Bangladesh. They were using fake IDs, and were affiliated with al-Qaeda.
It was further revealed by the ATS that fake identity documents and literature produced by the Al-Qaeda’s media wing were seized at the instance of the four suspects.
According to the Gujarat ATS, their focus is to identify people who have aided in border crossing, discover methods of fundraising, locate local connections, and individuals who could have been influenced by them within their inquiry.
