News Brief
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal (left) and Home Minister of India Amit Shah.
Earlier today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high level meeting to discuss the law and order situation in New Delhi. The second review meeting came after Shah took stock of the situation on Monday night in the wake of violence rocking parts of North East Delhi.
According to Kejriwal, his meeting with Shah was positive, and it was decided that political parties will ensure that peace returns to Delhi.
According to reports, seven people, including a Delhi police head constable, have lost their lives. At least 50 others are said to be injured. Among them are ‘several paramilitary and Delhi Police personnel’.
According to this report, commenting on whether an adequate number of police personnel will be given (by the Centre), Kejriwal said: “If it is needed then I hope...But right now the action is being taken by police...We've been assured that adequate number of police personnel will be deployed as required.”
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
