News Brief
PM Narendra Modi in Telangana
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked INDI Alliance's rally at Mumbai's Shivaji Park on Sunday (17 March) by saying that their manifesto declares that their fight is against Shakti (the form of Goddess in Hinduism).
"For me, every mother, every daughter is a form of Shakti", Modi said. Calling the women present at his public address in Telangana shakti-swaroopa (forms of Shakti), the PM said that they have come to bless him.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had said in Mumbai rally, "There is a word 'Shakti' in Hinduism. We are fighting against a Shakti." He explained that this Shakti is EVM and government-controlled institutions.
Modi said that he accepts INDI Alliance's challenge of finishing Shakti and that he will vest his life in saving Shakti. "Can someone talk about Shakti's destruction on the land of Bharat?" the PM questioned.
He asserted that everybody worships Shakti and said that we even named the point of Chandrayaan-3 landing as Shiv Shakti. He asked will the people give them an opportunity to destroy Shakti.
The PM said that the fight is now between those trying to destroy Shakti and those worshipping Shakti. "4 June will decide who can destroy Shakti and who can seek blessings from Shakti," Modi said.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) recently announced dates for the Lok Sabha elections. Beginning in April, the elections will be conducted in seven phases and the counting will be done on 4 June.
