India's Total Covid-19 Vaccination Coverage Exceeds 11 Crore Mark; 8 States Account For 60 Per Cent Of Jabs Administered

The total number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered in the country so far has crossed 11 crore, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday (14 April).

The development comes as over 26 lakh Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the last 24 hours.

Cumulatively, 11,11,79,578 vaccine doses have been administered through 16,53,488 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Wednesday (14 April), the Health Ministry said in a statement.

The government has rolled out the Covid-19 vaccination drive on 16 January, with the healthcare workers (HCWs) and the frontline workers (FLWs) being the first to receive the vaccine in the first phase of the inoculation campaign. The second phase of the vaccination began on 1 March for people above 60 years of age and those above 45 with comorbidities.

From 1 April, the vaccination was rolled out for all those above 45 years of age.

"The cumulative vaccination beneficiaries include 90,48,686 HCWs who have taken the first dose and 55,81,072 HCWs who have taken the 2nd dose, 1,01,36,430 FLWs (first dose), 50,10,773 FLWs (second dose), 4,24,66,354 first dose beneficiaries and 24,67,484 second dose beneficiaries more than 60 years old and 3,56,50,444 (first dose) and 8,18,335( second dose) beneficiaries aged 45 to 60 years," the Health Ministry said.

The ministry also informed that eight states account for 60.16 per cent of the total doses given so far in the country.

Meanwhile in the last 24 hours, 26,46,528 vaccine doses were administered, out of which 22,58,910 beneficiaries were vaccinated across 44,643 sessions for first dose and 3,87,618 beneficiaries received second dose of vaccine.
