In a dastardly act of violence, terrorists have targeted non-locals in the Habba Kadal area of Srinagar, resulting in the deaths of migrant workers Amritpal Singh and Rohit Mashi.

Singh was shot at point-blank range and succumbed to his injuries on the spot, whereas Mashi died while receiving treatment at Srinagar Hospital on Thursday (8 February) morning according to a report from The New indian Express.

This incident marks the first terrorist attack on non-locals in Kashmir this year, with security forces launching efforts to apprehend the assailants.

Following the attack, authorities initiated a large-scale combing and search operation in the area to apprehend the perpetrators. Police officers are actively reviewing CCTV footage to identify the assailants, while neighbouring areas are also under scrutiny.

This tragic event prompted Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to express his profound shock and sadness, condemning the heinous act and offering condolences to the affected families.

Sinha affirmed that every effort will be made to ensure justice is served and the culprits are brought to book.

The killing of the two migrant workers from Punjab has sparked widespread condemnation from political parties.
