Jan Ki Baat Survey: 78 Per Cent Favour Lockdown Extension; Odisha Sees Highest Public Satisfaction Ratings, Bengal Least

Amid the growing number of coronavirus cases in the country, the centre is expected to extend the lockdown for two more weeks. Some states like Punjab, Odisha and Maharashtra have already extended the lockdown.

To gauge the popular opinion regarding the extension of lockdown and capture the pulse of the nation, a survey was conducted by Jan Ki Baat between 6 April and 10 April.

The survey reports that around 78 per cent people across the country favour the extension as a measure to control Coronavirus spread. The survery further catergories the group to state that 82 per cent people in the urban areas and 74 per cent people in the rural areas favour the extension.

In the survey, 4000 people from 16 states were picked randomly who represented of the demographic and age profile of the country. The survey mentions that the entire data response has been embedded in the Jan Ki Baat Probability Map of Outcome Model to remove the error.

According the survey, a overwhelming majority in every state opted for extension of lockdown.

Amongst the states, Odisha has the highest number of people favouring the lockdown extension, with 90 per cent supporting the decision. While, 60 per cent of people in Haryana supports extension of lockdown.

In the second category gauging the satisfaction of public over the state-implemented measures during the lockdown, again Odisha came out on top with 85 per cent of the survey respondents claiming that they are highly satisfied with their state’s measures.
