Karnataka Will Get 5 Lakh Vaccine Doses From The Centre Per Day
- The union government has given the approval to provide Karnataka 5 lakh doses of the Covid-19 vaccine; currently, the state receives 2.5-4 lakh doses every day, says Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

The union government has given its nod to providing Karnataka 5 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine daily, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai in Delhi yesterday (26 August).
Bommai met Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in Delhi yesterday accompanied by Karnataka’s Minister for Health Dr S Sudhakar, Minister of Major-Medium Irrigation and Water Resources Govind Karjol, Minister of Large and Medium Industries Murugeshpalya Nirani and MP Shivakumar Udasi.
While addressing the media after the meeting with various central leaders, Bommai said that the state currently receives 2.5-4 lakh doses every day. The state had earlier brought it to the notice of Mandviya that it is preparing to administer 5 lakh doses every day.
In this context, Mandviya is said to have indicated his approval for the same, followed by discussions about the measures taken by the state for handling Covid 19.
A fortnight ago, the union government increased the state’s allocation of vaccine doses from 65 lakh to 1 crore doses. This came amidst the rise in cases in certain pockets of the state, especially in border districts.
The state has administered 38,884,515 vaccine doses so far, with 428,312 doses given yesterday (26 August). The districts with the highest vaccine administration count on Friday (27 August), as per the health bulletin, were BBMP (74,322), Uttara Kannada (33,276) and Belagavi (27,674). Bengaluru also completed a mammoth target of 1 crore vaccine doses on Wednesday (25 August).
Bommai, who is in Delhi meeting various union ministers, also announced the centre’s approval for the setting up of a mega textile park in Karnataka, after his meeting with Union Textile Minister Piyush Goyal.
Earlier in the day, Bommai said the state is working hard to solve all water resource issues pending for a long time in the Supreme Court. He also informed that the state will file petitions in the apex court for the Krishna upper basin project and the projects undertaken by the Tamil Nadu government.
