In a significant move following the Muslim League and the CPI(M), the Congress is gearing up to organise a massive pro-Palestine rally in Kozhikode, North Kerala, next week.

The Congress aims to position itself as the political force capable of rectifying what it perceives as the pro-Israel stance adopted by the BJP-led Central government.

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief K Sudhakaran announced on Thursday (16 November) that over 50,000 Congress workers would participate in the rally scheduled for 23 November, mobilised from Kozhikode and surrounding districts, reported The Economic Times.

Sudhakaran emphasised that the Congress-led event would attract supporters of secular and democratic values, contrasting it with what he termed as the CPI(M)'s "opportunistic campaigns exploiting the plight of the Palestinian people."

The move by the Congress is seen as a response to the ongoing pro-Palestine campaign led by the ruling CPI(M) in Kerala.

Sudhakaran accused the CPI(M) of attempting to sabotage the Congress' rally in Kozhikode with the assistance of the state government machinery, claiming that the Congress' solidarity event had unsettled the ruling party.

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary K C Venugopal is set to inaugurate the solidarity rally, with leaders from various socio-political spheres, writers, and cultural icons expected to attend.

As pro-Palestine rallies gain momentum in Kerala, the BJP-led NDA has decided to hold protest marches in four places, accusing the Left government and the Congress of advocating "communal and pro-terrorism" policies.

The BJP aims to protest against what it perceives as the "communal appeasement policies" of the Left government and the Congress.
