News Brief
Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The Union Home Ministry has extended Z+ security cover, provided by CRPF personnel, to Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, reported TNIE.
The decision comes in the wake of a dramatic incident in Kollam district, where Governor Khan faced a black flag protest staged by members of the Students Federation of India (SFI).
The Kerala Raj Bhavan confirmed the extension of Z+ security through a post on 'X'.
"Union Home Ministry has informed Kerala Raj Bhavan that Z+ Security cover of CRPF is being extended to Hon'ble Governor and Kerala Raj Bhavan: PRO, Kerala Raj Bhavan", said the post.
As reported earlier, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan had staged a sit-in protest on the road after facing a black flag demonstration by Students Federation of India (SFI) activists.
The Governor demanded the immediate arrest of the SFI workers, criticising the police for not taking swift action.
Subsequently, the police registered a case against 17 SFI workers, and they were arrested.
During this time, he openly criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, accusing him of promoting lawlessness in the state.
Khan only left the site after the police presented him with a copy of the First Information Report (FIR) filed against 17 SFI activists.
