Kerala: BJP Resumes 'Sneha Yatra' To Connect With Christian Community Ahead Of Lok Sabha Polls

As the Lok Sabha elections approach, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kerala has revived its 'Sneha Yatra,' an outreach programme intended to establish connections with the Christian community in the state.
Originally launched during this year's Easter, the initiative is being resumed during the Christmas season ahead of the polls.
As reported by Business Standard, State BJP Chief K Surendran kickstarted the 'Sneha Yatra' by visiting Cardinal George Alencherry, the former head of the Syro Malabar Church, and Archbishop Joseph Kalathiparbil of the Latin Archdiocese of Verapoly.
During the meetings, Surendran conveyed Christmas greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While the topics of discussion during these closed-door meetings were not disclosed, party leaders emphasised the friendly and warm nature of the interactions.
As stated by the state unit, the objective of the 'Sneha Yatra' is to foster a closer relationship between the BJP and the Christian community.
Party leaders and workers are set to visit Christian homes with messages from the Prime Minister until 30 December.
Additionally, the BJP plans to conduct 'padayatras' (foot marches) across the state as part of its election strategy.
Despite media reports suggesting differences between the Church and the saffron party following the Manipur violence issue, BJP leaders emphasised that both entities have maintained a cordial relationship.
The Yatra is viewed as a crucial initiative by the BJP to garner support from the Christian community as the Lok Sabha polls draw near.
