Kerala High Court suspended its two officials for "derogatory content" against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government in a skit performed at the Republic Day event.

The play was performed at the High Court auditorium and the suspension came after the BJP legal cell complained to the chief justice about the derogatory nature of the play.

The two officials suspended by High Court Registrar-General P Kirshna Kumar on the direction of the chief justice are Assistant Registrar Sudhish TA and Court Keeper (Higher Grade) Sudheesh PM.

Chief Justice Ashish Jitendra Desai also directed the registrar (vigilance) to conduct an investigation into the incident and sought an explanation from the registrar (administration).

According to Indian Express, it was alleged that the play also insulted the government’s flagship initiatives such as Jal Jeevan Mission and Bharat ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The order described the play as “derogatory content and criticism against the Government in the stage show performed at the High Court auditorium during the Republic Day celebrations, 2024.”
