Maharashtra Accounts For More Than One-Third of New Covid Cases In Last 24 Hours

India has registered 1,52,879 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Of this, more than one-third cases have been recorded in Maharashtra. While ten states including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan account for 80.92 per cent of the daily new cases, Maharashtra tops the list yet again.

The state has reported the highest daily new cases at 55,411 which is 36 per cent of the national count. It is followed by Chhattisgarh which saw 14,098 cases while Uttar Pradesh reported 12,748 new ones.

Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala cumulatively account for 70.82 per cent of India’s total active cases. Of this, Maharashtra alone accounts for 48.57 per cent of the total active caseload of the country.

Even in terms of fatalities, Maharashtra tops the list with 309 deaths of the 839 fatalities in the country in the last 24 hours.

On an affirmative note, the state also tops the list of eight states that account for 60.72 per cent of the of total vaccinations. With 99,23,534 doses given so far, Maharashtra accounts for almost 10 per cent of the total cumulative vaccine doses.

India’s cumulative vaccination coverage achieved a landmark of 10 crore with over 35 Lakh doses given in the last 24 hours, said a release by the Ministry Of Health and Family welfare.

India continues to remain at the top globally with an average of 38,34,574 doses administered per day. United States ranks second at 31,11,327 while Brazil stands third at 7,81,886 doses.
