Maharashtra: Opposition Alliance Finalises Seat-Sharing Agreement For 2024 Lok Sabha Polls

The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance in Maharashtra has reached a significant milestone in its preparation for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha election by settling on a seat-share agreement, as per reports by NDTV.
While a formal announcement is expected within the next 48 hours, the details of the arrangement have already begun to emerge.
According to media reports, the Shiv Sena faction led by former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray will be contesting 20 out of the state's 48 seats.
The Congress party will contest 18 seats, while the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Sharad Pawar, will field candidates for the remaining 10 seats.

Additionally, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), a regional party that had initially demanded five seats, will receive two from the Shiv Sena's share.
Furthermore, an independent candidate, Raju Shetty, will be supported by the NCP.
Reports also indicate that the Shiv Sena will contest four out of six Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai, with the possibility of allocating one seat, the Mumbai North East seat, to the VBA.
It's important to note that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Shiv Sena, allied with Bharatiya Janata Party at the time and contested 23 seats and emerged victorious in 18, including key constituencies in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, the Congress had managed to secure only one seat out of the 25 it contested.
