TMC leader Mahua Moitra has stated that she will be engaging in campaign activities in her Krishnanagar constituency on Thursday (28 March), opting to skip the Enforcement Directorate's summons requesting her presence for questioning at their office in New Delhi.

"I will be out campaigning in the Krishnanagar constituency in the afternoon," she informed reporters as per a report by The Indian Expresss.

In Krishnanagar, she would be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha polls against BJP candidate Rajmata Amrita Roy,

The Enforcement Directorate had recently issued fresh summons to Moitra and Dubai-based businessman Darshan Hiranandani for questioning in connection with a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) violation case.

The 49-year-old Trinamool Congress leader had previously been summoned twice by the central agency but had not appeared, citing official duties, and had requested a postponement of the summons.

Moitra, who was ousted from the Lok Sabha in December due to "unethical conduct," has been re-nominated by her party to contest from West Bengal's Krishnanagar seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Following a directive from the anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had conducted raids at her premises in connection with the cash-for-query case. Moitra has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
