Masarat Alam's Muslim League Jammu Kashmir Declared 'Unlawful Association' Under UAPA For Inciting Islamic Rule: Amit Shah

In a significant move, the 'Muslim League Jammu Kashmir' has been designated an 'unlawful association' under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The organisation, led by Masarat Alam, the interim chairman of the hardline faction of the All India Hurriyat Conference, was earlier under the leadership of separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
Home Minister Amit Shah, in a post on social media, stated, "This organisation and its members are involved in anti-national and secessionist activities in J&K, supporting terrorist activities and inciting people to establish Islamic rule in J&K."
He emphasised that those acting against India's unity, sovereignty, and integrity will face the full force of the law.
As reported by NDTV, the Home Ministry's notification outlined that the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir is known for its "anti-India and pro-Pakistan propaganda."
It further stated that the leaders of the organisation have been raising funds from various sources, including Pakistan and its proxy organisations, for unlawful activities.
Particularly, the chairman of the organisation, Masarat Alam, has been implicated in unlawful activities that are detrimental to the country's unity, integrity, security, and communal harmony, the notification added.
This move reflects the government's commitment to addressing elements involved in activities against the nation's interests and underscores the strict application of legal measures to maintain unity and security.
