Regional airline FLY91 is set to launch its operations from Mopa airport in Goa to Bengaluru on 18 March, followed by flights to Hyderabad on 19 March.

The airline plans to begin flights between Goa and Agatti in Lakshadweep in April, marking an expansion of air connectivity in the region.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia flagged off a ceremonial flight on Tuesday to mark the occasion, as per a report by The Hindu Businessline.

The Lakshadweep islands, which gained attention following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit in January, currently have air connectivity only with Kochi.

Alliance Air operates 10 weekly flights, while IndiGo intends to start six weekly services from Kochi to Lakshadweep in the upcoming summer schedule.

FLY91, headquartered in Goa, will initially operate with six ATR-72 aircraft, connecting 8-10 cities in its first year of operations. Over the next five years, the airline plans to expand its fleet to 35 aircraft covering 50 cities.

FLY91's managing director and chief executive officer, Manoj Chacko, emphasised that the airline will cater to the needs of both tourists and locals, unlike other airlines that primarily focus on tourist schedules. The airline will prioritise a digital approach, issuing boarding passes immediately upon booking.
