News Brief
NewsClick is currently under investigation for alleged money laundering and foreign funding violations
In a recent development, Amit Chakravarty, the HR head of NewsClick, has approached a Delhi court, expressing his willingness to become an approver in the case involving the news portal's alleged receipt of foreign funds from Chinese agents.
The case accuses NewsClick of spreading anti-India propaganda, disrupting the country's sovereignty, and causing disaffection against India.
This move by Chakravarty follows a recent 60-day extension granted to Delhi Police by the Patiala House Court to further investigate the matter.
The Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation are also conducting separate investigations into the case.
The allegations stem from a New York Times report that revealed NewsClick received a significant sum of Rs 38 crore from a US-based individual, Neville Roy Singham, who was alleged to have close ties with the propaganda arm of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
