No CAA And UCC; NEET Exemption And More: Here's What DMK's Manifesto 'Promises'

The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu and a key member of the opposition INDI bloc, has unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
The manifesto, released on Wednesday (20 March), outlines several key promises, including the repeal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in the state.
Addressing a gathering after the releasing the manifesto, Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin said, "It is the DMK which makes the manifesto before elections and continues to do what we say.... In our manifesto, we have announced special schemes for Tamil Nadu and schemes for every district are given in this manifesto."
In addition to announcing its manifesto, the DMK also revealed the list of candidates for 21 seats for the 19 April polls, while allocating the remaining 18 seats to its allies, including the Congress and Left parties among others.

Notably, the party retained several sitting MPs, including prominent figures like Kanimozhi, TR Baalu, and A Raja.
Among the significant assurances made in the manifesto is the pledge to scrap the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act of 2019.
The DMK also vows to ban the NEET exams and disband the current NITI Aayog if voted to power.
Furthermore, DMK has assured to grant Indian citizenship to returning Sri Lankan Tamils, addressing a long-standing issue affecting the Tamil Nadu region.
Additionally, it promises to resist the proposal for "One Nation, One Election."
Similarly, the party opposes the concept of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), as advocated in previous BJP manifestoes.
