On Basant Panchami, Pilibhit – The Indian Leader In Flute Manufacturing – Gets A Flute Installation As Its New Landmark

Pilibhit district in Uttar Pradesh received a unique visual identity on the occasion of Basant Panchami (celebrated on 16 February), a day dedicated to the worship of Goddess Saraswati. The occasion also celebrates knowledge and the arts.
A depiction of flute has been installed at a crossing in the district. It is a visual tribute to the flute-making industry cradled in the district.
The crossing has been named 'Bansuri Chowk'. Uttar Pradesh government led by Yogi Adityanath is promoting local industries across the state. The Adityanath government is promoting one product per district.

Pilibhit is known for the good musical quality of flute manufactured in the district. The installation dedicated to the flute industry represents the district's domination in the production of the musical instrument, which, reportedly is 90 per cent in India.
The chowk will serve as an important attraction in the district. It is a direct tribute to the artisans who are involved in the production of the musical instrument and its several musical structures and variations that are used by the artistes the world over.
The flute manufacturing industry of Pilibhit is said to be 150 years old.
