External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has delivered a stark assessment of India's approach towards terrorism, asserting, "How do you deal with a neighbor who does not hide the fact that they use terrorism as an instrument of statecraft?"

Jaishankar, who is on a three-day visit to Singapore, made these remarks during a Q&A round held on his authored book 'Why Bharat Matters'.

He pointed out the sustained nature of Pakistan's sponsorship of terrorism, describing it as operating "almost at an industry level."

Addressing the issue, Jaishankar stated unequivocally, "India will not skirt this problem anymore."

He emphasized the need for honesty and resolve in confronting the challenge, stating, "We have a problem and we must be honest enough to face up to that problem, however difficult it is."

Jaishankar also outlined a shift in India's approach, declaring, "The mood is not to overlook terrorists."

He underscored the importance of holding terrorists and their backers accountable, stating, "We should not give the other country a free pass."

However, acknowledging the complexity of the issue, Jaishankar admitted, "I don't have a quick instantaneous fix."

"we have a problem and we must be honest enough to face up to that problem, however difficult it is...we should not give the other country a free pass, saying there's nothing they can do about it or it's a very hard problem, or there's so much else at stake that let us overlook," he said.
