News Brief
Smoke Inside Parliament During The security Breach
Following a significant security breach in Parliament, the four individuals apprehended yesterday (13 December), including Sagar Sharma and D Manoranjan inside the Lok Sabha, along with Neelam Devi and Amol Shinde outside Parliament, have been remanded to police custody for seven days for thorough interrogation.
The investigators argue that detailed questioning is necessary to gather information as reported by NDTV.
Yesterday's breach led to the arrest of five individuals who were involved in letting off thick yellow smoke inside the Lok Sabha using smuggled smoke bombs.
Sagar Sharma from Lucknow and D Manoranjan from Mysuru were caught and overpowered after creating panic.
Neelam Devi and Amol Shinde, unable to obtain visitors' passes, were apprehended while shouting slogans outside Parliament with smoke bombs.
All four individuals arrested for breaching security in the Lok Sabha are now facing charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The Delhi Police Special Cell has filed a case at Parliament Street Police station, invoking UAPA sections 16 (punishment for a terrorist act) and 18 (punishment for conspiracy, etc.), along with IPC sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 452 (trespass), 153 (provocation with intent to cause a riot), 186 (obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions), and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty).
