Several months before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed the national leaders of the BJP to strive for more than 50 percent of the votes in the 2024 general elections.

At a private meeting with the national office bearers of his party in New Delhi on Friday (22 December), Prime Minister Modi implored them to operate in a "mission mode", India Today reported citing sources.

"We won 303 seats in 2019 and will win more seats in 2024 if we work on a mission mode," the Prime Minister said.

He further advised the party's senior leaders to "express views aggressively on social media" and "give positive answers to Opposition's negative propaganda with facts".

The two-day meeting convened to discuss strategies for the general election was attended by national office bearers, state in-charges, state presidents, state general secretaries, and heads of all other arms.

The discussion in the meeting also covered the further operation of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a countrywide initiative launched by the government to promote and increase public knowledge regarding the welfare schemes of the central government.

Party leaders have been advised to intensify their outreach around the government's "good works".

The meeting reportedly also touched on various other topics, including the recent assembly elections in five states, as well as the party's nationwide plans to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
