Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reportedly sleeping on the floor with only a blanket and drinking only coconut water to fulfill the 11-day long 'vishesh anushthan' (special ritual) for the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony.
According to NDTV, there is a set of rules that the PM has to follow in order to purify the mind and body for the 22 January pran-pratishtha in Ayodhya. The rituals, which include satvik lifestyle and meditation, started on 12 January.
In an audio message released at that time, Modi said, "The Lord has made me an instrument to represent all the people of India during the consecration. Keeping this in mind, I am starting a special ritual of 11 days from today."
The murti in which pran-pratishtha will be done is made by Mysuru sculptor Arun Yogiraj and weighs around 150-200 kg. It was lifted by a crane from the truck that reached the temple along with a procession in yesterday evening.
A silver murti of Ramlalla (not the same one to be installed in the sanctum sanctorum) garlanded with roses and marigolds toured the premises of Ram temple last evening.
