The Congress party is set to engage in discussions with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Amritsar, Punjab, today (8 January) to deliberate on the seat-sharing formula for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Devender Yadav, the Congress incharge for Punjab, arrived in Amritsar earlier today and expressed that all discussions regarding the seat-sharing formula would take place during the meeting.

"Our entire leadership is present here. We will engage in discussions in the meeting and provide statements only after that," remarked Devender Yadav, as reported by Business Standard.

Meanwhile, AAP MP Sandeep Pathak stated that discussions would not be limited to Delhi but would encompass all states where the Aam Aadmi Party holds elected representatives and organisational presence.

Before the meet, Congress leader Abhishek Dutt also conveyed confidence in fighting unitedly and securing victory.

"INDIA Alliance will win all 7 seats in Delhi... Businessmen are fed up with the current (central) government and their policies... We will fight unitedly and win," added Dutt.

Reacting to the ongoing discussions on seat-sharing between AAP and Congress for the Lok Sabha elections, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit emphasised the need for expeditiously deciding the details to facilitate preparation.

"Our national leadership knows our opinion... Our conflicts with AAP are with respect to the Delhi government... It will be decided later if there will be an alliance, and if it happens, then who'll contest which seats? I just hope that if an alliance happens, then its details should be decided as soon as possible so that we can also prepare for it," said Dikshit.
