Rajasthan: Now Distance From Delhi To Jaipur Can Be Covered In Two Hours With Electric Buses, Here's All About It

On Monday (12 February), Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced plans to introduce electric buses along the Delhi-Mumbai Express National Highway, enabling a journey from Delhi to Jaipur in two hours.
The electric bus service is expected to offer fares 30 per cent lower than diesel buses, as per a report by The Economic Times.
Speaking at the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony of 17 road projects in Udaipur, aimed at accelerating Mewar's development with an investment exceeding Rs 2,500 crore, Gadkari highlighted ongoing infrastructure endeavours.
Gadkari disclosed the construction of a 67-kilometre four-lane expressway from Bandikui to Jaipur, slated for completion by November 2024, facilitating the swift commute between Delhi and Jaipur.
He also underscored the significance of the Delhi-Mumbai Express Highway, hailed as the first in Asia and the second globally to incorporate an animal overpass, ensuring safety for wildlife.
Expressing satisfaction, Gadkari emphasised Rajasthan's road development efforts, aiming to align them with global standards.
Assuring parity with American highways by the end of 2024, Gadkari outlined the extensive infrastructure investments in Rajasthan, including expressways totaling Rs 60,000 crore, alongside the ongoing construction of the 1,382 km Delhi-Mumbai Express Highway amounting to Rs 1 lakh crore, with Rs 22,000 crore already allocated for the state.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma underscored Udaipur's significance in tourism, dubbing it the "Kashmir of Rajasthan".
He lauded the transformative initiatives undertaken since 2014 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, foreseeing a boost in the tourism sector.
Sharma assured swift progress in fulfilling governmental commitments, including the Maharana Pratap Corridor outlined in the state budget, promising expedited action by the double-engine government.
Asserting the government's commitment to fulfilling public aspirations, Sharma expressed confidence in realising the shared dreams of the populace through collaborative efforts between the Centre and the Rajasthan government.
