While the new 51-inch Ramlalla idol underwent an elaborate and protracted set of rituals on Saturday (20 January), the darshan of the old idol of 'Ramlalla Virajman' was stopped at the makeshift temple.

The darshan of the old idol will likely resume on 23 January along with that of the new idol, after it is moved to the sanctum sanctorum on Sunday evening, according to the priest of Ramlalla makeshift temple, Satyendra Das.

Meanwhile, the new idol's eyes are still covered with cloth. Its entire frame was draped in a variety of flowers brought from locations across the country including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Kolkata, Indian Express reported.

The estimated weight of these flowers is 50 kg and they include lotus, rose, jasmine and chrysanthemum.

Similarly, the sanctum sanctorum was washed with water from 81 Kalash (pots) in a ritual called snapan. The three-hour-long ritual used water sourced from different religious places and rivers including Sitamarhi in Bihar and Nepal.

Some of these pots also had "medicated water with gau mutra” and juices of selected fruits. Meanwhile, the hawan continued till the evening.

Ramlalla was also offered sugar and sweets, fruits and flowers in rituals named Shakradhivas, Phaladhivas and Pushpadhivas respectively.
