Retired Army Officer Riyaz Ahmed Arrested For Receiving Arms And Ammunition From Lashkar-e-Taiba Across LoC

The Delhi Police announced on Tuesday (6 February) that they have apprehended a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba — a retired Indian Army personnel wanted for his involvement in a recently dismantled terror cell in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, at the New Delhi railway station, as per a report by The Indian Express.
As per the police statement, the individual was captured at the New Delhi railway station on Sunday (4 February) while attempting to reach his hideout.
"Riyaz Ahmed was implicated in devising a plot alongside Khursheed Ahmed and Ghulam Sarvar to receive arms and ammunition from across the Line of Control," stated K P S Malhotra, DCP (Railways).
"The Jammu and Kashmir Police recently uncovered a terrorist network in Kupwara, apprehended five individuals associated with it, and seized significant incriminating evidence, including weapons and ammunition," Malhotra added.
Malhotra elaborated that the weapons and ammunition were dispatched by LeT operatives Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh and Qazi Mohammad Khushal, based in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.
"We were alerted last week by Jammu and Kashmir investigating agencies about Riyaz's arrival in Delhi. A team was formed, and Ahmed was apprehended while attempting to flee from Gate Number 1 at the New Delhi railway station," Malhotra explained.
Ahmed was detained by the railway unit of the Delhi Police, Malhotra further stated.
During interrogation, Ahmed disclosed that he and his associate Altaf, also a retired Army officer, boarded the Mahakaushal Express from Jabalpur and arrived at Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station around 3 pm on Friday, 2 February.
"Subsequently, Ahmed took an auto and reached New Delhi Railway Station on Sunday. He was en route to a hideout," Malhotra added.
Both Ahmed and Altaf retired from the Indian Army on 31 January, according to the DCP.
