Namo Bharat train trial run to Modinagar South

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on 29 December commenced the trial runs of Namo Bharat trains between Duhai and Meerut South, an additional 25-km-long section ahead of the priority section, within a mere 80 days of beginning operations in the priority section.

It marks a major step towards the operationalisation of the entire 82 km of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor in the near future, ahead of target.

To commence the trial run, the Overhead Equipment (OHE) was charged from the Murad Nagar Receiving Sub Station (RSS).

The electric traction, previously charged up to Modinagar South station, has now been extended up to Meerut South station. The trials were already underway up to Modinagar South station.

In the trial runs, Namo Bharat trains are undergoing testing to assess the fitness of all sub-systems and equipments.

In this phase, the train will be operated across the entire length at various speeds gradually. Initially, a manual operation is carried out under the Train Control Management System.

As the process advances, tests will be conducted to evaluate the integrated performance of the train and verify its coordination with different sub-systems, such as signalling, platform screen doors (PSDs), and the overhead supply system.

The 25-km stretch between Duhai and Meerut South RRTS station is the next segment of the RRTS corridor set to be operationalised for the public after the priority section.

This section covers a total of four stations: Murad Nagar, Modinagar North, Modinagar South, and Meerut South.

In June, the construction of the viaduct up to Meerut South was completed with the installation of the last span.

Subsequently, various construction works, including track laying, OHE installation, signaling and telecom, and electrical, have been advancing rapidly in this section.
