Russia-Ukraine War: Putin Asserts Prolonged Military Campaign Unless Kyiv Accepts Moscow's Security Deal

In a press conference on Thursday (14 December), Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that Russia would persist with its military campaign in Ukraine unless Kyiv agreed to a deal accommodating Moscow's security concerns.
The Russian leader, who recently announced his bid for another six-year presidential term, emphasised that the objectives of the "special military operation" in Ukraine would be accomplished.
As per reports by Indian Express, Putin reiterated that Russia's fundamental goals included "de-Nazification," "de-militarization", and ensuring Ukraine's neutrality.
He asserted, "there will be peace when we achieve our goals."
Regarding de-militarisation, Putin warned that if an agreement was not reached with Ukraine on specific parameters related to its military strength, alternative measures, including military action, would be pursued.
Despite the international community's condemnation and sanctions, Putin maintained that Russian forces were advancing along most of the front line, and the core objectives remained unchanged.
During the press conference, Putin disclosed a rare detail about Moscow's military operation in Ukraine, stating that approximately 244,000 Russian troops were presently engaged in the conflict.
He also emphasised that a second wave of mobilisation was unnecessary, with 1,500 men recruited into the army daily across the country.
