Sky-High Spirituality: 70-Storey Krishna Temple Set To Be Constructed In Vrindavan

A new 70-story temple dedicated to Lord Krishna is set to be constructed in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh.
The 210 metres tall project, Vrindavan Heritage Tower, will cost $80 million and aims to strengthen the local economy by enhancing tourism, according to Chanchalapathi Dasa, vice chairman and co-mentor of the Global Hare Krishna Movement and senior vice president of ISKCON Bangalore.
In an interview with PTI, Dasa outlined that the tower will feature an octagonal design with four directional wings, each housing a temple, and additional facilities including three more temples and a memorial for Srila Prabhupada.
The temple complex will house comfortable accommodation facilities that create a home away from home and enhance the experience of the tourists.
The project will also have a multi-level parking facility capable of handling 3,000 cars.
Dasa also commented on the need for robust spiritual infrastructure to support the influx of international visitors, which is part of a broader effort to promote Indian culture globally.
He noted the importance of such development in strengthening India's position as a destination for spiritual and cultural tourism.
According to Dasa, the Uttar Pradesh tourism department projects that visitor numbers to Vrindavan could increase to 100 million annually over the next six to ten years.
The Vrindavan Heritage Tower is expected to play a critical role in accommodating this growth.
“Currently, we have been told that 20 million people come to Vrindavan. The Government of Uttar Pradesh tourism estimates says that in the next six to 10 years, it is going to become five times more, which is 100 million. Our plans are to be able to cater to a very large number".
“We are creating one of the biggest parking facilities, multi-level parking, which can park 3,000 cars at a time, he said, adding that they were planning to be able to handle about 2,00,000 people every day and on festival days much higher,” Dasa said, news agency PTI reported.
