Supreme Court Likely To Hear Plea Against Arvind Kejriwal's Arrest Today; AAP Plans Nationwide Protest

The Supreme Court is likely to hear the plea against arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today (22 March).
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on Thursday (22 March) on charges of corruption in relation to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.
The agency arrested him around 9 pm after a search and questioning session and took him to the ED office.
Kejriwal and his wife's phones were also confiscated and data was transferred from two tablets and a laptop at his home. The Delhi CM reportedly spent the night in an ED lock-up after a medical check-up from the RML hospital.
ED's action came after Kejriwal skipped multiple summonses by the investigation agency, nine in total, calling them “illegal”.
Earlier on Thursday (21 March), the Delhi High Court refused to grant him protection from arrest in the case.
Following Kejriwal's arrest, AAP’s legal team rushed to the SC Registrar’s home hoping for a late-night hearing but the top court had said that it would take up the matter today morning.
Meanwhile, AAP has said that Kejriwal will continue to discharge his chief ministerial duties from jail - a prospect that may create a constitutional crisis.
The party has also panned a nationwide protest against Kejriwal's arrest.
