News Brief
The poster depicting Sonia Gandhi as Bharat Mata.
In the Tukkuguda area of Rangareddy district in Telangana, hoardings featuring Congress parliamentary party president Sonia Gandhi, party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, and other party leaders have been erected.
Some of these hoardings have depicted Sonia Gandhi as "Bharat Mata" (Mother India), according to a report in ABP.
In response to the posters portraying Sonia Gandhi as 'Bharat Mata', Bharatiya Janata Party leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi stated that Congress's obsession has evolved from India is Indira to Sonia is Bharat Mata.
Congress, he added, sometimes insults Sanatana Dharma and Bharat Mata, and that they consider these insults as an honour.
The Congress, however, has launched its own programme to counter the BJP's attacks on the party over these issues.
In a meeting earlier, Kharge urged party leaders to maintain close connections with the public and counter the misinformation spread by opposition parties.
Likewise, Rahul Gandhi cautioned party leaders against falling into the BJP's traps and urged them to prioritise the concerns of the people.
