As farmers' protest entered its second day, Haryana Police DGP Shatrujeet Kapur issued a statement summarising the first day of the protest and said that two DSPs and around 24 police personnel were injured in stone-pelting yesterday.

"Section 144 is imposed in 15 districts of the state. The protesters did heavy stone pelting yesterday and tried breaking barricades. However, the police and paramilitary forces made their attempt unsuccessful using minimum force," he said.

Kapur said that only tear gas and water cannons were used to control the situation. "64 companies of paramilitary forces and 50 companies of Haryana Police have been deployed," he said appealing to follow the law and order.

He acknowledged that other than injuries to police personnel, some farmers were also injured. He informed that mainly the Ambala-Chandigarh route is affected and hence the advisory is issued for an alternative route via Karnal.

Meanwhile, Punjab authorities had objected to use of drones by Haryana Police in its territory, responding to which Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said, "If someone runs into Punjab after attacking our police, can't we even follow them?"

He questioned Punjab administration for not stopping the protesters when they started moving from Amritsar. "This clearly means that they want to create terror in Delhi and insult Red Fort again," he said highlighting injuries to police personnel.
