Gujarat Police arrested six persons of Hussaini Samosa Centre in Vadodara on Monday (8 April) as they were found selling samosas stuffed with beef.

The police got a tip, after which it seized 113 kg of meat and sent it to the forensic lab for testing. There it was confirmed that samosa filling indeed had cow's meat.

The owners Yusuf Sheikh and Naeem Sheikh were then arrested along with their four workers. Imran Qureshi, who used to supply them beef, was also arrested.

"We got information that some people were selling samosas from a house using cow meat. We conducted raids and sent the material to the forensic lab which confirmed it was cow meat," Vadodara's Deputy Commissioner of Police Panna Momaya was quoted as saying by India Today.

Momaya added that the show owners neither had any license from the municipal corporation nor the food safety department. The customers were being sold these samosas across the city without knowing this, as per the DCP.

Another samosa controversy on the same day happened in Pune's Pimpri Chinchwad where condoms, gutka and stones were allegedly found in samosas at the canteen of a major automobile firm.

The police found that two workers named Firoz Shaikh and Vicky Shaikh were planted by SRA Enterprises to damage the image of their rival Manohar Enterprises, which got the food supply contract in their place.

The contract of SRA enterprises was cancelled after a bandage was found in one of their supplied snacks and given to Manohar entrprises. SRA's partners Rahim Shaikh, Azhar Shaikh, and Majhar Shaikh then decided to take revenge.

The police have booked five persons under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).

"The two accused told us they are employees of SRA Enterprises and were sent by its partners to Manohar Enterprises to adulterate food supplied by the latter," the police said.
