This UK general election is anticipated to produce the most diverse Parliament in the nation's history, with a significant number of parliamentarians of Indian heritage expected to be elected.

According to a report from The Hindu, the Labour Party will have the largest number of ethnic minority MPs if it wins an overall majority, especially in a landslide scenario.

Both major parties, the Conservatives and the Labour Party have fielded a large number of Indian-origin candidates from significant seats leading to expectations of a higher percentage of elected parliamentarians to be of Indian origin.

In the 2019 general election, 15 MPs of Indian heritage were elected, many of whom are contesting again, alongside several new candidates.

Key British Indian candidates to watch in the upcoming election include Praful Nargund for Labour in Islington North, Jas Athwal in Ilford South, Baggy Shanker in Derby South, Satvir Kaur in Southampton Test, and Harpreet Uppal in Huddersfield.

Meanwhile, Kanishka Narayan is vying to become the first Indian-origin MP from Wales, and Sonia Kumar is attempting to overturn a Tory majority in Dudley.

In Ealing Southall, a constituency with a large Punjabi electorate, British Sikh candidates Sangeet Kaur Bhail and Jaginder Singh are contesting as Independents.

British Sikhs like Warinder Juss from Wolverhampton West and Gurinder Singh Josan from Smethwick are aiming for Labour gains.

For the Conservative Party, Chandra Kanneganti in Stoke-on-Trent Central and Ameet Jogia in Hendon face tough battles in a race predicted to favor Labour.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is expected to retain his seat of Richmond and Northallerton in northern England, along with former Cabinet colleagues Priti Patel in Witham, Essex, and Suella Braverman in Fareham and Waterlooville.
