'Unfortunate That Glorifying Terrorism Is Routine In Canada': Indian High Commission On Kanishka Bombing Anniversary

India's Consulate General in Canada's Vancouver organised an event to pay homage to the victims of Air India flight 182 Kanishka on the 39th anniversary of the Khalistani bombing attack.
The Consulate General reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms and urged to stand firm in defending peace, unity and justice against those who seek to spread fear and harm.
A press release was issued thereafter by the Indian High Commission in Ottawa, Canada criticising the "cowardly act of terror carried out by Canada-based Khalistani terrorists" on 23 June 1985.
"This tragedy is worst ever in Canadian aviation history to date... The perpetrators and the co-conspirators of this dastardly act remain free," the High Commission said.
"While thirty-nine years have passed since the cowardly act, terrorism has unfortunately assumed proportions of an existential threat to international peace and security today," it added.
Highlighting India's efforts to counter terrorism, the High Commission quoted External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar as saying, "...Political convenience does not determine responses to terrorism..."
"Any act of glorifying terrorism, including the bombing of AI-182 in 1985, is deplorable... It is unfortunate that such actions are allowed to be routine on many occasions in Canada," the statement concluded.
