US President Joe Biden made a a claim that Hamas and Russian President Vladimir Putin both have intentions to completely annihilate a neighboring democracy. He specifically mentioned Hamas' desire to "annihilate" Israel's democracy and also addressed Ukraine's efforts to repel Russia's invasion.

Speaking in a televised address from the White House on Thursday (19 October), Biden made plea for greater financial assistance from Americans to support Israel in its fight against Hamas. He emphasised the importance of the United States remaining a symbol of hope and a deterrent to any adversaries of democracy.

Following an eight-hour visit to Israel, President Biden's speech discussed his efforts to facilitate humanitarian assistance for Gaza. While there was only partial success in reaching an agreement, the President announced that Israel and Egypt had agreed to allow 20 trucks filled with relief supplies to enter the Gaza Strip.

On Thursday, equipment was sent through the Egyptian border crossing to repair roads on the Gaza side, while over 100 trucks awaited their turn in Egypt. It is worth noting that the border crossing had been non-operational due to Israeli airstrikes on the Palestinian side.

In the midst of these developments, Israel's defence chief instructed troops to be prepared for a potential incursion into the Gaza Strip with the aim of dismantling Palestinian militants.

Biden stressed the urgent requirement to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian civilians in Gaza, who are experiencing severe shortages of essential supplies such as food, water, and medical resources.

President Biden highlighted the importance of recognising the humanity of innocent Palestinians who simply desire peace and opportunities for a better life. He revealed his plan o request further financial assistance for Israel from Congress on Friday.

According to Indian Express, an undisclosed source stated that the proposed funding is estimated to be around $14 billion. The intended purpose of this funding, as stated by Biden, is to strengthen Israel's military capabilities and enhance its qualitative advantage.

The US President emphasised the importance of supporting "critical partners" such as Israel for the sake of America's national security. He described it as a wise investment that would yield long-term benefits for American security.

Meanwhile, Israel appears to be edging closer to a possible full-scale invasion of the Gaza Strip, which is under the control of Hamas. The Israeli military gathered its forces and equipment near the border of Gaza.

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant addressed troops gathered at the Gaza border on Thursday, expressing that they would soon have the opportunity to see Gaza from both a distance and from inside. He assured them that the command to enter would come in due time.
