Uttar Pradesh: Last Day Of Filing Nomination And Confusion Still Persists Over SP's Moradabad Candidate

Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) is struggling with confusion in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad on the last day of nomination filing for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for 19 April.
Two candidates on behalf of the SP have filed their nominations in Moradabad. The sitting MP ST Hasan filed his nomination on Tuesday, followed by Ruchi Veera, who filed her nomination on Wednesday.
The SP cadre was immersed in the buzz of candidate change in Moradabad throughout Tuesday. When rumours emerged about Ruchi Veera's candidature, the SP workers protested.
After their protests, it was assumed that the plans to field Ruchi Veera had been dropped and ST Hasan filed his nomination. However, a day later, Ruchi Veera too reached to file her nomination.
She claimed that ST Hasan is her elder brother and she is the SP candidate as Akhilesh Yadav has chosen her. However, SP district functionaries were not present during her nomination filing.
Ruchi Veera was in the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) earlier and represented Bijnor in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. She is known to have the support of jailed SP leader Azam Khan in her candidature.
