Uttarakhand Receives First Set Of Liquid Medical Oxygen Tankers

Uttarakhand became the ninth state to receive the oxygen express as more than 375 tanker load of medical grade oxygen have been delivered to various destinations across the country amid a virulent second wave of coronavirus.

While the first oxygen express was expected to reach Dehradun last night with 120 metric tonnes (MT) of liquid medical oxygen (LMO), first such service is also set to reach Pune with more than 50 MT of LMO.

According to Indian Railways, Bengaluru has received 120 MT of oxygen while more than 5,735 MT of LMO has been delivered by oxygen expresses to Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

More than 90 oxygen expresses have completed their journey so far and delivered LMO to various states.

The railways maintains that till date 293 MT has been offloaded in Maharashtra, nearly 1,630 MT in UP, 340 MT in MP, 812 MT in Haryana, 123 MT in Telangana, 40 MT in Rajasthan, 120 MT in Karnataka and more than 2,383 MT in Delhi.

While the first oxygen express to Uttarakhand is expected to reach tonight with 120 MT of oxygen from Tatanagar in Jharkhand, an Oxygen Express to Pune is also set to reach today with more than 50 MT of Oxygen from Angul (Orissa).

According to the railways, more oxygen expresses are expected to start their journey later in the night.
