While inaugurating IndiGo's flight between Ayodhya Dham and Ahmedabad virtually from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving the state its fourth international airport.

Air service between Ayodhya and New Delhi started on 30 December 2023 with the inauguration of Maharshi Valmiki International Airport and this new air connectivity between Ayodhya and Ahmedabad follows that development.

Praising IndiGo, Adityanath said that the airline provides its services in eight cities of Uttar Pradesh, namely Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Agra, Bareilly and Ayodhya.

"Ahmedabad-Ayodhya air connectivity will help Gujarat's pilgrims to easily come to Ayodhya. Similarly, Ayodhya people can go to Somnath or Dwarka for pilgrimage easily," the UP CM said.

Adityanath also thanked Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for commissioning Ayodhya airport in a limited time. "I anticipate that around 100 chartered planes will land at Ayodhya airport on 22 January," the UP CM said.

He further said that the potential at Ayodhya will make people regret, "why didn't we respect this faith earlier? Not just faith, but it will also boost the economy and help lakhs of youths."

Currently, the airport has a runway length of 2,200 m and would be suitable for the operation of A-321 type of Aircraft.

Under Phase 2, the development of a new terminal building of 50000 sq m is planned which will be able to serve 4000 passengers during peak hours and 60 lakh passengers annually.
