BRS MP admitted in Hyderabad hospital after being stabbed
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MP from Telangana, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy was the victim of a stabbing incident while he was engaged in campaign activities in Siddipet district of the state. The attack occurred as the MP was making his way to a pastor's residence on Monday (30 October).
An unidentified individual approached him with the appearance of wanting to shake hands with the leader, NDTV reported. However, the situation took a sudden turn when the individual brandished a knife and stabbed the MP in the stomach.
BRS workers at the campaign rally promptly apprehended the attacker and intervened. Siddipet Commissioner of Police N Swetha confirmed that the assailant has been taken into custody, and they are in the process of verifying his identity.
Visuals from the scene captured Prabhakar Reddy applying pressure to his stab wound in the abdomen while seated in a vehicle. He is now undergoing treatment at Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad.
Reddy had recently been nominated as the BRS candidate for the Dubbaka constituency to contest against the incumbent BJP MLA Raghunandan in the upcoming assembly elections scheduled for 30 November.
His journey to becoming an MP began when Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao vacated the seat in 2014 to run in the assembly elections.
